PURPOSE

The Purchasing Technician/Coordinator is in-charge of purchasing and maintaining inventory levels within the Pharmacy.

 DUTIES

Review daily stock inventory and purchase needed products in a daily basis. Review prices and select the lowest price available from current vendors. Maintain a controlled inventory with maximum and minimum numbers of bulk items, high cost, or special items while keeping within budget guidelines. Periodic reviews of inventory for expired, damaged or overstock medication.

 Utilize inventory control programs and policies to achieve targeted inventory levels

  • Monitor and analyze pricing and adherence to contracts
  • Contact current vendors to place order over the phone or using their online ordering system
  • Check-in all deliveries to the pharmacy by accounting for everything in the packages
  • Assist the pharmacy with breaking down boxes and taking them to the garbage area
  • Organize and restock new inventory in a daily basis
  • Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA
  • Process return items within our allowed vendor window

Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent, college level a plus
  • Pharmacy Technician Program Completion

EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS

  • Must be familiar with brand and generic drug names
  • Excellent communication and data entry skills
  • Ability to follow a timeline for work in progress
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and management
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Intermediate computer skills using Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, Outlook
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi task
  • 3 years of experience in pharmacy or long-term care setting
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • 1 year experience with basic Pharmacy equipment (Heat Sealers)
  • Required knowledge of brand and generic drug names

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Pharmacy Technician License

PC, Calculator, Office Copying, FAX and Scanning Machine

 COMPUTER SKILLS AND APPLICATIONS

Good proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) familiarity with PowerPoint, Outlook; ability to use the Internet for research and information in support of job duties.
