Your role

Radio-Canada’s News Department is seeking a Project Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for developing staff assignment plans for the Montreal News Centre. You will coordinate all relevant data required to produce these plans (requester needs, reports, spreadsheets, timelines, etc.) efficiently, while ensuring compliance with collective agreements and internal policies.

You will play a strategic planning and advisory role with production teams and senior editorial staff. You will be required to negotiate terms with various stakeholders and find creative solutions to ensure operational continuity, while maintaining compliance with corporate standards and ensuring quality follow-up.

You will be responsible for coordinating information across all relevant departments to establish assignment schedules and secure the necessary approvals to carry out production projects. Your schedule will include on-call shifts worked remotely to address last-minute replacement needs.

The work environment is specific to a newsroom setting, where employees have atypical schedules and each role is distinct. Urgent situations are frequent and stress levels are high; the successful candidate must demonstrate tact, discretion, leadership, and sound judgment when recommending alternative solutions due to changes in plans.

This is primarily a daytime position (both in-office and remote), with additional evening, night, and weekend on-call shifts (remote), shared on a rotating basis with other team members.

Please note that this is a permanent, full-time position.

This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Your profile:

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or equivalent

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in similar roles (e.g., project management, production logistics, or budget planning)

Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, autonomy, and respect for confidentiality

  • Strong ability to manage multiple files simultaneously

  • Proven interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Strong ability to develop creative solutions and propose alternatives

  • Ability to work collaboratively and share knowledge

  • Excellent command of French

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (an asset)

  • Knowledge of a newsroom production environment (an asset)

Selected candidates will be required to undergo:

  • Interview

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next

step will be asked to complete a background check. This includes:

  • A mandatory Criminal record check.

  • Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.
