Position Summary/ Department Summary:
  • The Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Boston Children’s Hospital seeks qualified Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to join our multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing care to infants, children, and adults with critical illness.
  • Collaborating with supervising physicians to conduct patient assessments and medical history, physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental problems.
  • Caring for patients with both acute and chronic disease by managing therapeutic regimens according to approved guidelines.
  • Participating in intensive care unit medical rounds, including the presentation of clinical information and the progress and management of patients.
  • Assisting with establishing a treatment plan and being included in all teaching activities conducted by the MSICU attending staff.
  • Participating in ongoing research in the MSICU and offering expertise as a consultant and educator to other staff.
  • Ability to work full time, 40 hours/week, day/night rotation with every 3rd weekend, 12-hour shifts. Opportunities also available for permanent nights with every 4th weekend rotation.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Master of Science in Nursing or Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies 
Experience:
  • 1 year of critical care experience preferred.
  • Will consider new graduates with previous relevant experience.
  • Solid medical knowledge base for critical care medicine.
  • Critical thinking skills and adaptability.
  • Excellent communication skills and work collaboratively with medical and surgical colleagues, staff, and trainees.
Licensure/ Certifications:
  • A current Massachusetts NP or PA license required
