MARSHFIELD R-1 SCHOOL DISTRICT


JOB DESCRIPTION


 


SCHOOL OFFICE SECRETARY –   9-10  MONTH; Part-Time/3 days per week



 


QUALIFICATIONS:                          



  • Excellent communication skills; ability to work with students, faculty and general public in a diplomatic, friendly and efficient manner.

  • Knowledge of practices and procedures for office and school building.

  • Ability to edit routine correspondence for spelling and grammar.

  • Knowledge of standard office machines and equipment.

  • High school diploma supplemented by minimum one-year secretarial experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.


 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Days as assigned, compensation per salary schedule.


 


REPORT TO:                           Building principal


 


PERFORMANCE


RESPONSIBILITIES:               Essential job skills/knowledge and abilities:



  • Composes, types, and assembles a variety of correspondence and reports including confidential data, from handwritten, taped, or verbally dictated notes.

  • Answers and screens incoming telephone calls; determines the purpose of the call and provides information directly or refers calls to proper person or office.

  • Maintains confidentiality of pertinent data/information.

  • Is familiar with school policies and procedures along with contacts within the school district.

  • Greets visitors, students, teachers and administrators; assesses the nature of the visit; assists visitors directly or directs them to the appropriate person.

  • Sorts and distributes mail.

  • Makes deposits of monies that are collected at the school.

  • Assists in ordering and maintaining supplies for the building.

  • Sets up and maintains various filing systems such as attendance records for students, purchase orders, attendance records for staff, substitute teacher records.

  • Receives, transcribes communications to students and staff.

  • Performs other duties as required or directed by immediate supervisor.


 


EVALUATION:                      Evaluated annually by building principal.
