Job Description

OVERVIEW
Custom Computer Specialists “CCS” is looking to hire a Platform Engineer to be an integral part of our Project Services Team whose function is to support and deliver a variety of platform-based projects to a large client base primarily throughout the five boroughs and Tri-State Area. CCS is seeking an individual who will contribute to the overall success of the team and company by collaborating with peers to deliver projects on time, providing exceptional client support, offering technology consulting, and supporting fellow team members. The individuals’ primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to implementing, maintaining, and securing platform infrastructures for our clients. This person should have prior experience within these areas and with delivering project-based work, on-site support, and network technology consulting.

SALARY: $100,000-$135,000

  • Provide expert consultation on platform-related technologies that align with client goals and initiatives.
  • Offer platform support to clients, peers, and internal teams within the Custom Organization.
  • Stay up to date with current networking technologies and industry trends.
  • Promote and implement best practices for design, configuration, installation, and system integration.
  • Deliver profitable, on-time projects while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on, team-oriented approach by performing hardware setup, installation, and physical deployment tasks as needed to support client and project requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes through streamlining and automation.
  • Conduct on-site walk-throughs for data center assessments, new installations, and bid evaluations.
  • Mentor and support the development of other team members.
  • Build strong client relationships through clear, consistent communication, becoming a trusted advisor.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education & Experience: Associate's degree in a technical field (preferred) with 4–6 years of experience in platform technologies including Microsoft Server, Hyper-V, Active Directory, GPOs, Azure AD, O365, Intune, SCCM, VMWare, Google Workspace, and other cloud environments.

  • Certifications (Preferred or Equivalent): Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, VMWare Certified Professional, Google Administrator, and CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+.

  • Project Delivery & Technical Scope: Proven experience leading platform projects involving UPS power systems, servers, storage, networking, and virtualization; understanding of networking concepts and infrastructure best practices.

  • Virtualization & HCI: Strong working knowledge of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure technologies such as HPE SimpliVity and Nutanix.

  • Storage Technologies: Hands-on experience with enterprise storage solutions including HPE MSA/Nimble/Alletra, Dell EMC PowerStore/Unity, NAS systems, and SAN protocols (Fiber Channel, iSCSI).

  • Backup Solutions: Proficient in deploying and managing backup tools like Barracuda, Datto, VEEAM, and ExaGrid.

  • Multi-Vendor Expertise: Skilled in configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting multi-vendor environments (HPE, Dell, Nutanix, Cisco) across hardware, OS, virtualization, SAN, and backup systems.

  • Communication & Customer Service: Excellent verbal/written communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical users; strong customer-focused mindset.

  • Work Ethic & Flexibility: Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; able to manage time effectively in fast-paced, multitasking environments; available for after-hours work, installations, and project needs.

  • Logistics & Physical Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel across the 5 boroughs and tri-state area; able to lift/move up to 50 lbs and perform on-site support/installs as needed.
