Position Summary

Are you passionate about helping others harness the power of AI in practical, meaningful ways? The School of Extended Education is seeking an engaging and experienced Instructor to join our Applied AI for Administrative Operations Certificate Program as a casual instructor. This is an exciting opportunity to equip learners with in-demand, real-world skills that enhance productivity, efficiency, and innovation in modern workplaces.


As a casual instructor in the Applied AI for Administrative Operations Certificate Program, you will deliver high-quality, industry-relevant instruction to students in a fully online setting. You will design and facilitate engaging learning experiences, help learners apply AI tools and technologies to everyday administrative and business functions and support learners in achieving program outcomes.


Faculty in the School of Extended Education plays a critical role in learner success by delivering instruction, evaluating progress, and developing practical, applied learning materials. In this role, you will foster an inclusive and interactive online learning environment that encourages exploration, confidence, and real-world application.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Deliver High-Quality Instruction: Lead engaging and inclusive learning experiences in a virtual environment. Design and deliver lessons that reflect diverse student needs, applying a variety of effective instructional strategies. Continuously enhance curriculum, learning materials, and assessment tools to ensure relevance and quality. Monitor student progress, evaluate performance, and provide timely, constructive feedback to support student success.
  • Foster a Positive Learning Experience: Create a supportive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and achievement. Address academic concerns related to performance, participation, or conduct, and connect learners to appropriate support when needed. Ensure required accommodations are implemented effectively and contribute to learner success through ongoing communication and support.
  • Support Program Delivery & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing quality and relevance of the program by incorporating current AI tools, trends, and best practices into course delivery to ensure content remains relevant and practical. Participate in program activities such as orientations or graduation events and support initiatives that enhance the learner’s experience.
  • Contribute to Institutional Excellence: Support the institution’s mission by adhering to policies, procedures, and academic standards. Engage in ongoing professional development and complete required training. Contribute to special projects, applied research initiatives, and departmental priorities as needed, bringing a collaborative and proactive approach to all aspects of the role.


What Sets You Apart

You are a forward-thinking professional who combines practical AI expertise with a passion for teaching and supporting adult learners. You bring strong online facilitation skills and the ability to translate emerging AI technologies into clear, relevant, and actionable learning for administrative and business contexts.


You have hands-on experience using tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms, you can guide learners in applying AI to tasks like document creation, communication, scheduling, reporting, and workflow automation. You also bring an understanding of data handling, basic analytics, and process optimization, paired with a commitment to ethical and responsible AI use in real-world applications.


You are an effective communicator who builds strong relationships and fosters an inclusive, engaging virtual classroom. You demonstrate solid instructional, mentorship, and classroom management skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning platforms such as D2L.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, IT or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience in AI, technology, or digital transformation
  • Prior teaching or training experience, preferably in an online environment
  • A diploma combined with 3+ years of relevant industry experience in applied AI may be considered


Assets:

  • Experience with Generative AI tools and business applications
  • Experience teaching adult learners or delivering micro-credentials
  • Familiarity with learning management systems such as D2L
  • Industry certifications in AI or emerging digital technology areas

This opening is a casual (faculty) position. Please note all successful candidates will be required to provide copies of government issued identification and proof of educational qualifications upon hire and may be required to provide an enhanced police information check.
