    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Position: High School Assistant Principal
    Reports to: Principal
    Employment Status: Regular/Full-time 
    FLSA Status: Exempt 

    Salary:  Level IV; 260 Days; Administrative Salary Schedule, Commensurate with Experience

    Description: In coordination with the building principal, the Assistant Principal identifies and implements instructional and operational supports and best practices that impact student achievement.

    Qualifications:

    • Master's degree (M.A.) from an accredited college or university
    • Appropriate State of Ohio licensure
    • Five to ten years of successful classroom teaching and building administration experience
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

    Essential Functions:

    • Provides building-level curriculum and instructional leadership through attendance at department meetings, department head meetings, monthly faculty meetings, classroom observations, and faculty communication meetings
    • Works with members of the Teaching and Learning Department on all curriculum matters pertaining to the school
    • Supervises and evaluates certified and classified staff as assigned by the principal
    • Participates in numerous committees to foster innovation and to enhance learning
    • Problem solves building and staff concerns through department chairs, building committees, and staff meetings.
    • Serves as a mentor to current and aspiring administrators
    • Serves as the lead administrator in the development of courses, course scheduling, and final student and staff placements
    • Analyzes assessment data to inform instruction and increase student achievement
    • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student files, student IEPs, medical records, personnel files, documentation for legal proceedings
    • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, parents, and the community to maintain positive relationships
    • Coordinates and supervises extracurricular and co-curricular programs and activities as assigned
    • Enforces the observation of all school policies, rules, and safety regulations

    Other Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a role model for students
    • Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal

    Additional Working Conditions:

    • Occasional requirement to travel, both daily and overnight

    • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 25 pounds, e.g., paper boxes, deliveries of supplies and equipment
    • Occasional interaction among unruly children
    • Frequently move and position oneself as necessary to access and operate equipment
    • Frequently move around the workspace and travel throughout the school building
