Position Purpose:



 



The Pharmacy Inventory Facilitator functions as an integral part of the Pharmacy team, working closely with leadership and the Supply Chain Business Analyst to ensure all supply needs are met on a daily basis for this highly specialized department.  The incumbent serves as a liaison for the Pharmacy Department in the procurement of medications and supplies from other areas, and is directly responsible for maintaining the automated inventory files, replenishing all perpetual inventories and specialty items for the Pharmacy as needed.  The incumbent is challenged to do this in a cost contained manner, weighing the needs against the cost, under continual time pressures, acknowledging pricing contracts, and keeping in mind limited availability of space.



 



Nature and Scope:



 



The incumbent is the Pharmacy point person for maintaining the integrity of the pharmacy inventory systems hospital wide, working with personnel to coordinate this complex effort.  As such they will resolve discrepancies, approve payments and retain the necessary records including vendor invoices and purchase orders. 



 



Prepares and enters purchase orders for department accounts.  Coordinates receipt of incoming shipments and follows up on orders placed and verifies deliveries.



 



Maintains purchase files under the guidance set forth by the Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacy Supply Chain Business Analyst.  This includes maintenance of the corresponding files in the computer system, as well as submitting all related correspondence to internal and external department and vendors.



 



Meets and works with customers to identify usage trends and develop appropriate inventory ordering points and levels.



 



Compiles and analyzes data to determine feasibility of buying products and establishing price objectives



 



Tracks the files the inter-hospital loaning and borrowing of equipment and supplies, reconciling on a monthly basis with personnel from other facilities.  Works to maintain a record of medication pedigree.



 



Maintains files for custom inventory sheets.  Follows procedures and assists in preparing for and carry out the annual inventory process.



 



Works under the direction of the policies and procedures as set forth by the Supply Chain Business Analyst.



 



Places rush orders in emergency situations, researching and obtaining product information and pricing, tracking the flow of incoming products, and expediting as needed to ensure arrival.  Also helps to ensure that proper pricing is loaded into the computer files, and assists both Accounts Payable and Purchasing in resolving invoice discrepancies.  Interprets contract information to insure that vendors submit correct pricing on specialty items.



 



It is common to encounter potential hazards in the healthcare environment.  Some of these hazards could include, but are not limited to: radiation, toxic chemicals, biological hazards, heat, noise, dust and stress. 



 



Other related duties, flexible hours, and overtime may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:  Requirements - Required and/or Preferred



Education:



Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. High School diploma or equivalent required.  Intermediate competency and understanding of computer software systems (Microsoft Office, web-based ordering systems).



Experience:



Requires 3 years pharmacy experience.



License(s):



Pharmacy Technician License with Nevada Board of Pharmacy



Certification(s):



 



Computer / Typing:



Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Typing 40 wpm and 10-key by touch preferred.
