Job Description

This is a fully remote role for candidates who are based outside of the New York Metropolitan area. For those located in the area, we encourage you to consider our hybrid work arrangement (1-2 days a week in our NYC office). That said, we value flexibility and if you have a different preference, please do not let that deter you from applying – let’s talk about it!

Energy storage is the key to unlocking a future where our world is powered by renewable resources. At Convergent Energy and Power, our mission is to make the electrical grid cleaner, more reliable, and less expensive by leveraging state-of-the-art energy storage and distributed generation technologies.

The Project Manager II, Land Development supports the development of standalone storage and solar-plus-storage projects, leading site due diligence, permitting, and community relations. This position involves coordinating consultants for site evaluations, reviewing technical reports, engaging with local stakeholders, and working with outside counsel.

This is an individual contributor role and therefore does not have any direct reports but may exercise informal mentorship and guidance to junior level staff.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Project Development (35%)

o Lead the permitting efforts, with support from senior developers as needed, by managing consultants and service providers including permitting consultants, surveyors, engineers, outside legal counsel, etc.

o Lead site due diligence activities, including gathering and analyzing technical data to assess site feasibility.

o Manage consultants performing site studies, environmental reviews, and other technical evaluations.

o Manage the preparation and submission of permitting applications, and track progress through approval.

o Collaborate with senior team members to engage local stakeholders, including community members, government officials, and other key parties.

o Monitor deadlines and coordinate efforts across team members to keep tasks aligned with the project schedule.

o Travel as necessary to attend public meetings, with consultants and attorneys, to represent Convergent and each project by acting as the company’s representative and subject matter expert.

Cross-Functional Collaboration (35%)

o Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to coordinate development activities, communicate progress, and efficiently hand off entitled projects.

o Develop project management skills including critical thinking, problem-solving, negotiation, cross-functional team management, effective communication, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.

Administrative and Reporting Tasks (15%)

o Prepare reports and documentation as needed for internal stakeholders.

o Monitor project progress by maintaining project documentation, tracking task completion and scheduling, and ensuring proper filing of project documents

o Maintain organized records of project-related documents.

o Schedule and coordinate meetings with consultants, internal and external stakeholders

o Assist in managing consultant and vendor contracts, including tracking invoicing and payments.

Operational Oversight and Vendor Management (10%)

o Communicate on a regular basis with manager and team members, including in-person meetings held at the NYC headquarters as needed to foster strong collaboration amongst the Development team.

o Assist in the evaluation and selection of consultants and service providers including title insurance, due diligence and permitting consultants, surveyors, and outside counsel.

o Lead permitting processes and manage all required permitting activities with internal and external resources.

Leadership and Team Coordination (5%)

o Work closely with senior managers, other project managers, and cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, and legal teams) to ensure smooth project execution.

o Take ownership of specific tasks or phases of the development process, ensuring they are completed on time and meet quality standards.

o Provide regular updates and status reports to senior team members, ensuring transparency and alignment across teams.

o Manage personal bandwidth and tasks and communicate effectively when experiencing constraints.0
