Job Description

Location: Wichita, KS

Facility: Ascension Via Christi St Joseph

Department/Specialty: Emergency Services

Schedule: Rotating | PRN

  • Lead comprehensive forensic examinations with a trauma-informed approach, ensuring patients receive compassionate care while meticulously preserving the integrity of physical evidence.

  • Document the patient’s journey by capturing accurate medical histories and forensic findings that serve as a vital bridge between healthcare and the justice system.

  • Advocate for patient recovery by administering prophylactic treatments and coordinating essential referrals to ensure long-term psychological and physical support.

  • Serve as a clinical expert for the community and legal system, providing clear communication to families and offering professional testimony to ensure the patient's voice is heard in court.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing required.
  • Certification specializing in Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner preferred.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. Completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training SANE-A within 12 months and completion of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training SANE-P within 16 months, if applicable.

Clinical Expertise: A minimum of 2 years of professional nursing experience preferred.
