Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Role Summary:

As a QA Manager, you will lead and manage QA POS resources, define and enhance organizational quality assurance standards, and provide guidance on GK procedures, testing, and quality practices across the GK product suite.

You will be responsible for establishing best practices, creating and enforcing standards, and ensuring adherence across the team. By managing team performance, you will help deliver the highest-quality software to customers. You will develop testing strategies that balance quality with cost efficiency, leveraging a deep understanding of GK technologies and processes. 

You will stay current on retail industry trends and the latest QA techniques and technologies. You are passionate about quality software, committed to implementing and enforcing best-practice QA methodologies, and dedicated to fostering team growth, well-being, and work-life balance.  

This position is on-site in Raleigh, North Carolina, at GK Americas headquarters. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the QA POS team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Conduct regular one-on-one and team meetings to provide feedback, set expectations, and support career growth. 
  • Define clear performance goals, monitor progress, recognize and address performance issues proactively, and implement strategies to enhance team productivity and engagement, promoting a supportive and results-driven work environment. 
  • Support the recruiting process by conducting interviews and evaluating candidates for the QA POS team in coordination with HR when necessary. 
  • Assist in training the QA team on GK processes, GK products, and their configuration capabilities. Maintain and enhance the training plans. 
  • Day-to-day management and staffing allocation of QA resources across GK US (OmniPOS). 
  • Coordinate testing activities, resource planning, and process improvements of the QA department. 
  • Work with Project Managers to ensure adequate QA resources for testing and delivery of customer projects
  • Work with the test automation team to implement a process of automated deployments and test automation using Test Complete to increase the efficiency of the QA team. 
  • Apply knowledge of GK products as well as all customer variations, work closely with the automation engineer to define which areas of our product should be targeted for automation to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Work closely with the development team on improvements of GK products - e.g., improving data transformation/mapping from other systems.
  • Plan, manage, and support testing efforts for customer projects. 
  • Assist with planning integration of systems in the unique GK solution landscape, including point-of-sale, data conversion, data insight products, and integrations with external systems.
  • Assist in defining QA standards for the organization, establishing and maintaining QA procedures and best practices for testing GK products.
  • Serve as a proficient QA Analyst on the GK product suite across product and customer projects. 
  • Manage inbound and outbound shipping of customer lab equipment.
  • Maintain customer labs and support the office administration and IT teams in managing lab-related requirements, including but not limited to furniture and network infrastructure. 

Other Tasks:

  • Support customers with the GK data conversion process, utilize knowledge of various data formats, internal GK data structures, and the interactions between the various data types.
  • Review and evaluate test plans, applying GK product expertise and insights. 
  • Define and implement best practices for the team based on knowledge of GK procedures, processes, and technical dependencies.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and data protection standards. 
  • May assist in training TAPS QA team members.
  • Work closely with the Director QA on global strategies and preparation of decision templates for team improvements. 

Qualifications

Education
 
Training and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/information technology, or equivalent professional experience. 
  • 10+ years of relevant technical QA experience or similar role.
  • Previous experience in management preferred.  
  • Experience with retail POS systems. Preferred POS experience in fuel, pharmacy, grocery, and restaurant sectors. 
  • Highly skilled in business writing and presentation skills, test case design, problem analysis, and the utilization and creation of automated testing. 
  • Supporting customers with the GK data conversion process, utilizing knowledge of various data formats, internal GK data structures, and the interactions between the various data types.
  • Evaluate test plans in light of GK product knowledge as well as years of experience with multiple customer projects.
  • Define and implement best practices for the team based on knowledge of GK procedures, processes, and technical dependencies.

Technical Skills

  • Office Skills (Word, Excel, PPT)

  • Jira or similar issue tracking system
