Description

The intern in the State Legislative Initiatives department will assist the team with rapid response materials for special sessions, support efforts to prepare and update a resource library of fact sheets and tools for affiliates' state legislative work, and review resolutions passed at AFT’s 2026 Convention and assist in drafting potential state policy actions to advance the actions called for in the resolutions.

Requirements

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) or equivalent.

·       Ability to review and synthesize lengthy policy documents into key facts.

·       Ability to adjust and respond to rapid turnaround needs. Attention to detail and accuracy. 

·       Some knowledge of AFT, labor, K-12 and higher education, and/or healthcare.
