Job Posting: Food Service Specialist

Location: St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Bristol – Bristol, CT
Position: Part-Time, 25 hours/week (Some weekends/holidays as needed)
Pay: $17/hour


Description

St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Bristol is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals and families in need by providing meals, shelter, compassion, and community support. Our community kitchen is a core part of our mission—serving guests with dignity and offering nutritious meals daily.

The Food Service Specialist plays a key role in preparing and serving meals, supporting volunteers, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our guests.

  • Experience in commercial or institutional food service (required)

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record (required) for food pickups and supply runs

  • ServSafe certification (required) or ability to obtain within 30 days

  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for long periods

  • Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills

  • Compassionate, patient, and mission-driven approach to serving vulnerable populations

Summary

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and serve daily meals following nutritional and organizational guidelines

  • Supervise and support volunteers in the kitchen

  • Ensure compliance with all health department food safety regulations

  • Manage inventory, track donations, and coordinate deliveries

  • Develop weekly menus based on available food donations and budget

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment

  • Assist with food pickups/deliveries as needed
