Job Description

Description:

The Wellness Intern position is ideal for a student with a lived experience of being in recovery from a mental or behavioral health condition such as substance use disorder, eating disorder, gambling disorder, etc. This position is also a great experience for a student majoring in psychology, sociology, health and exercise science, or any pre-health major seeking to work directly with clients in community health or in community outreach. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Health Promotion and will coordinate the weekly What’s the Buzz sessions as well as supporting other large wellness events throughout the semester. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate the Weekly What’s the Buzz session which includes:
    • create the weekly schedule with a rotating topic relating to wellness and recovery support as well as rotating snacks available each Thursday night from 7pm-8pm 
    • market the What’s the Buzz program to all students via social media, the website, screens, and other methods
    • Ensure the program is always staffed appropriately; typically, by attending the program each week or through coordinating Ucrew students to staff the program in your absence 
    • Ensure all paperwork and tracking of attendees is completed in a timely manner
    • Create a report at the end of the semester showcasing the impact of the program
  2. Assist with marketing, planning, and implementation of large recovery-friendly events such as Allies of Recovery Training, Narcan Training, Recovery Interest meetings, etc.

Requirements:

  • Current full-time student at Ursinus College
  • Current Ursinus upperclassman with demonstrated open and honest communication
  • Demonstrated initiative to create and implement new ideas
  • Ability to work independently also collaborate to work as part of a team

Compensation: 

This position is hours per week throughout the academic semester with a semesterly stipend of $1000.  The hours are flexible to work within the candidate’s class schedule but the ability to attend or ensure the What’s the Buzz program is staffed properly is a requirement. The contract is per semester and can be renewed at the beginning of each semester after mutual agreement between supervisor and student is made based on completion of work, continued interest, and ability. Administrative work can be done at home or in the office.
