    Position:Adventure Club Mentor
    To Whom Responsible:Assistant Director & Program Director
    For Whom/What Responsible:Assistance with the daily operation of the out-of-school time enrichment program.
    Qualifications:Education: 30+ credits hrs in child development-related courses encouraged.
    Preferred Experience:Related job experience required.
    Primary Responsibilities:To assist with the day-to-day operation of the Before, Afterschool, and Camp day enrichment program under the leadership and direction of the Site Coordinator.


     
     

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

     

    1. Assists the Coordinator in managing students, planning educational and recreational activities, documenting attendance, supervising playground activities, and maintaining positive relationships with children, parents, and all school personnel.

     

    1. Actively participates in the program.

     

    1. Cooperates with the Coordinator and other site staff to maintain a working relationship that is both professional and personable.

     

    1. Provides a positive role model for children.

     

    1. Accepts responsibility for reporting to work on time and maintaining accurate hourly records of work time.

     

    1. Clearly conveys instructions for various activities to children of different age groups in a language they can understand.

     

    1. Disciplines children in a patient and understanding manner.

     

    1. Helps prepare program materials.

     

    1. Assists in the daily set-up and clean-up of program projects.

     

    1. Assists with routine paperwork.

     

    1. Attends mandatory orientations, weekly staff meetings, and monthly in-service sessions.

     

    1. Attends professional development workshops upon request.

     

    1. Assumes other responsibilities as assigned and/or discovered.

     
     
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
     
    The Adventure Club Mentor is hired for 248 days per school year.  Daily sessions are 3-6 hours in length, often before and after school hours, with additional time for staff meetings, training, and full-day camp.  Compensation is according to the non-certified salary schedule and based upon position category, experience, and years of service.  Non-certified benefits are offered according to the full versus part-time status and explained in the district's benefit brochure.
     

    EVALUATION

     
    Performance for this position will be evaluated according to board policy.  The Coordinator will be responsible for conducting the evaluation.
