Intern II - Field Dreams and IMLS Devonian Project Digitizer

Interns will work on digitizing the Field Museum's Fossil Invertebrate collection of Devonian marine invertebrate fossils. This will include data entry of specimen label data into our EMu database, photographing fossils and labels. This is part of an IMLS grant to digitize the Devonian fossils in the Field Museum's Fossil Invertebrate collections. Interns will work directly with the fossils.

These internship will be awarded to individuals currently studying geology, paleontology, museum studies, or a related field who have proven verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated knowledge of geology as a discipline, the ability to work effectively as a member of a team on a variety of tasks, and who demonstrates familiarity and have experience and interest with photography and processing digital information. The Field Museum will provide EMu and photography training.

As part of this internship interns will also spend part of their time scanning and digitize Fossil Invertebrare catalog books in the library. Creating a digitized backup of all 31 catalog books in the Fossil Invertebrate collection.

Desired start date of June 1st, 2026; 35 hours per week for 10 weeks @ $17.75 per hour. Applications must be received by April 21, 2026. Applicants selected for interview will be contacted by May 9, 2026.
