    Gorham Middle School 8th-Grade ELA/Social Studies Teacher (1-Year Position)

    Gorham Middle School is seeking a motivated and student-centered educator to join our ELA/Social Studies team for the 2026-2027 SY. The ideal candidate brings content knowledge, is collaborative, and has a genuine enthusiasm for working with young adolescents.

     

    Responsibilities

     Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in Social Studies & ELA to students in the 8th-grade

     Use data to inform instructional decisions and support student growth

     Collaborate with grade-level teams to support student learning, behavior, and well-being

     Communicate proactively with families and maintain accurate records in the gradebook

     Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and team meetings

    Qualifications

     Bachelor's degree required; Maine educator certification required or anticipated by start date

     Eligible for Maine certification in at least one of the following:

    o    English Language Arts (100) and/or Social Studies (200) under Middle Level Teacher (5�8) or Secondary Teacher (6�12)

    o    Elementary Teacher (020) K�8 endorsement

     Experience working with middle school students preferred

     Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
