Summary
The Customs and Duty Compliance Specialist supports MOBIS North America Electrified Powertrain (MNAe) by ensuring full compliance with U.S. and international import/export laws and Customs regulations. This role is responsible for auditing import/export transactions, managing HTS classifications, monitoring duty-related activities, and guiding internal stakeholders on regulatory requirements. The specialist collaborates closely with customs brokers, internal departments, and external partners to resolve shipment issues, maintain accurate records, and support customs-related projects. Additionally, the role contributes to process improvements, prepares management reporting, and stays current with legislative changes affecting global trade operations.
Essential Functions (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
- Identify and classify with high level of accuracy U. S. HTS classification.
- Identify any possible duty avoidance and recovery efforts related to NAFTA.
- Create various customs certificates for MOBIS parts.
- Monitor post summary correction activity on day-to-day basis.
- Communicate with custom broker, Internal/external customers regarding any issues relating to shipments.
- Maintain implemented internal controls and identify possible areas of opportunity to improve.
- Participate in approved Customs projects, including but not limited to value reconciliation, export compliance, etc.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and updates to management, provide monthly metric reporting as needed.
- Process any accounts payable and accounts receivable related to the customs activities.
- Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of legislative changes that affect imports and exports.
- Manage record keeping processes and archive of records.
- Review and modify existing work instructions and workflows, as required.
- Performs other and/or special assignments as delegated.

Basic Qualifications (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree.
- LCB, CCS or CES preferred; otherwise, requirement to pursue these within 2 years from date of hire.
- 2+ years experience in international logistics and export/import compliance professional with knowledge, understanding or exposure of U.S. export/import regulations and related compliance requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of US Import and Export Requirements and Regulations (19 CFR and EAR, FTR, respectively)
- Excellent oral and written communication for effective reporting to management, customer, and suppliers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Preferred Education & Experience:
- Familiarity with the automotive, electronics, and machinery industries (chapters 84, 85, 87, etc.)
- Experience with SAP
