Job Description


  • Position Summary




    • Licensed Practical Nurse provides quality nursing care to patients under the direction of a physician or registered nurse in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and Access Health Louisiana protocols and standards.





  • Minimum Qualifications




    • Education




      • Current Louisiana LPN license and knowledge of their scope of practice.



      • CPR Certification required.





    • Experience




      • Minimum 1 to 2 years’ experience in Med-Surg or clinical/hospital settings.





    • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities




      • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.



      • Calm, professional attitude in stressful situations and interactions.



      • High level of ethics in maintaining patient confidentiality.



      • Excellent analytical skills to assess and evaluate patient needs and develop and implement a care plan.



      • Handles a multitude of tasks simultaneously.



      • Deal with and/or solves stressful situations.



      • Communicates with patients, physicians, and other staff in verbal and written form.



      • Provides safe and effective nursing care.



      • Maintains professional composure under stress as in emergency situations.







  • Physical and Mental Requirements




    • Stands and walks most of the day.



    • Read gauges, digital read-outs, graphs and educational material, and patient charts in English. (Visual acuity)



    • Ability to move to exam rooms and workspaces.



    • MUST be able to travel to other Access Health Clinics as needed.



    • Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, including pushing and/or pulling.



    • Operate office equipment including telephone, printer, and fax.



    • Ability to operate vehicle if needed for occasional travel to other Access Health Clinics.



    • OSHA Category I: Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
