Overview
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the delivery of grocery products to residential homes while ensuring timely and safe delivery. This role requires dedication to customer service, a safety-minded approach to operations, and possesses the ability to navigate routes efficiently. As a Home Delivery Driver, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our tradition of excellent service.
The work is demanding but it is also rewarding both monetarily and in the services you’re providing. Your day is in constant motion, whether driving, or when lifting and carrying groceries from your vehicle to the customer's porch, all while ensuring they receive the highest quality service and products.
What does your day look like?
- Pre-trip inspections and maintaining vehicle cleanliness to ensure safety and compliance.
- Operation of delivery vehicle(s) along assigned routes, ensuring deliveries are timely, accurate, and high quality.
- Adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.
- Navigating using GPS systems or maps to optimize delivery routes.
- Communicating effectively with customers, providing exceptional service and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
- End of day reconciliation of goods and settling discrepancies.
- Cleaning and tidying vehicles to end of day process specifications
Requirements
- Valid driver's license (Non-CDL).
- Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs
- Minimum of two years recent and verifiable experience with home delivery in vans and/or box trucks.
- Verifiable clean driving record.
- Oral and written fluency in the English language.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA safety standards and regulations.
Working Conditions
This position will work primarily in a delivery truck environment with recurring exposure to outdoor weather conditions throughout the Pacific Northwest, including rain, snow, ice, and other challenging driving environments, which require exceptional safety precautions and adherence to company driving standards. Team members may also work in warehouse or plant environments when assisting with loading, unloading, or supporting other operational needs. These environments involve moderate risks that require strict compliance with safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment. The position requires physical assertion, working in cold storage areas, non-climate-controlled spaces, and around moving equipment.
- Constantly bending, lifting, carrying, stepping in and out of vehicles, standing, and performing repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements; positioning self in various delivery and warehouse environments.
- Frequent operation of handheld delivery devices, pallet jacks, warehouse tools, and loading equipment.
- Frequent reaching, gripping, and moving with arms and hands when handling products and delivery materials.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication; frequently communicates with customers, dispatch, supervisors, and team members to exchange accurate information and answer questions.
- Must be able to detect road conditions, traffic, obstacles, addresses, and delivery locations at a distance to ensure safe driving and accurate delivery.
This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screening in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
