Your Role 

This role is based out of the Medicine Hat Ronald McDonald House. Casual shifts tend to be, evening 5-9pm, weekends 7am-3pm or 3pm-9pm as well as vacation coverage, as needed. Hours are based on operational needs.   

 

Why This Role Matters 

When a child needs urgent medical care, families need more than a place to stay they need calm, consistency, and compassionate support. As a Family Services Coordinator, you are often the first friendly face families meet and the steady presence they rely on each day. By coordinating accommodations and check-ins, responding to questions with empathy, supporting House programs and volunteers, and helping keep the House safe, clean, and welcoming, you help ensure every family can focus on what matters most: being close to their child. 

 

Your Key Responsibilities  

Family Support 

  • Coordinate room bookings, check-ins/check-outs, inspections, and payments. 

  • Provide welcoming, family-centered support and respond to questions/concerns. 

  • Follow House policies and procedures, including emergency and risk reporting. 

  • Greet visitors and accept monetary and gift-in-kind donations. 

Program Support  

  • Support House programs and meal service (including Home for Dinner/Helping Hands) and help keep kitchen items stocked. 

  • Welcome volunteer groups, provide orientation/tours, and ensure spaces and equipment are cleaned and reset. 

  • Encourage family engagement with activities (e.g., Pet Therapy, Shuttle, Rejuvenation) through in-person communication and other channels. 

Volunteer Support 

  • Assign and support volunteer tasks to ensure time is used effectively. 

  • Train/orient new volunteers and share updates on procedures and programs. 

  • Value, respect, and recognize volunteer contributions. 

House Management 

  • Support day-to-day cleanliness, safety, and security of the House (inside and out). 

  • Complete shift housekeeping duties and flag maintenance or repair needs to the General Manager. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • High school diploma. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work with a wide variety of people. 

  • Administrative experience preferred; comfortable with computers and database systems. 

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and problem-solve. 

  • Must provide a clear criminal record check.
