Job Description

Job Purpose Statement/s:


 


The job of the Aide is done for the purpose/s of enforcing disciplinary policies and regulations; communicating observations and incidents to other school personnel that may impact the welfare, safety, and/or security of students, personnel, visitors and the school site.?The Aide also assists classroom teachers as needed (under the direct supervision of the teacher).


 


Essential Job Functions:


 


* Monitors students during lunch periods and recesses within a variety of school environments, (i.e. restrooms, playgrounds, hallways, classrooms, library, bus stops, cafeteria, and adjacent areas) for the purpose of providing for the safety and welfare of students.


 


* Informs students, personnel and the general public as appropriate for the purpose of ensuring their understanding of school regulations and policies.


 


* Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.


 


* Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (i.e. discipline, accidents, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to teachers and administration.


 


Other Job Functions:


 


* When appropriate, administers playground equipment for the purpose of providing equipment necessary for activities.


* Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.


* Assists teachers for the purpose of implementing lesson plans.


* Performs record keeping and basic clerical functions, scheduling, copying, etc. for the purpose of supporting the teacher in maintaining student files and providing classroom materials.


*Translates documents from English to Spanish as needed


*Supervises students before school and during recess


 


 Job Requirements - Qualifications:


 


* Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:


 



  • Skill to use English in both written and verbal form and make common sense decisions.

  • Knowledge of campus and student safety.

  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, understand oral and written instruction.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish


 


* Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: ??Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, Tuberculosis Testing/Clearance


 

Requirements / Qualifications

• High School Diploma at a minimum, preference for an Associate's Degree and/or at least 12 Early Childhood Education units
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (will provide paperwork upon hour)
• Tuberculosis Testing/Clearance (this can be arranged upon hire)
• Letter of Introduction
• Resume
• Two current professional letters of reference
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish

Salary Info

$24-27/hour, depending on experience

WE PREFER A CANDIDATE ENROLLED IN A MULTIPLE SUBJECT CREDENTIAL PROGRAM, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO COMPLETE STUDENT TEACHING IN A TK CLASS WHILE BEING GAINFULLY EMPLOYED.

The job of the Early Childhood TK or Kindergarten Instructional Assistant is to support students' academic and/or behavioral needs. The Instructional Assistant supports the teacher in ensuring student safety and student engagement.

The Instructional Assistant is also responsible for enforcing disciplinary policies and regulations; communicating observations and incidents to other school personnel that may impact the welfare, safety, and/or security of students, personnel, visitors and the school site.

*Provides instructional support to students as needed under the direction of the classroom teacher

*Provides behavioral support to students and helps students to self-regulate. Uses protocols to de-escalate a child.
