K-4 SPECIAL EDUCATION TEAM FACILITATOR 


Thacher (0.6) and Willett Elementary Schools(0.4) K-4


Start date:8/25/26 with orientation days prior


 


Job Description: The role of the Special Education Team Facilitator is to support schools in ensuring compliance with federal and state laws in special education so that students receive a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.


 


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Special Education or Related Field

  • License in Special Education or Related Field (i.e. Speech Language)

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with students with disabilities with preference for experience at the high school level


Reports to: Principal and Special Education Administrator 



Performance Responsibilities:



  • Coordinate and facilitate Team meetings including initial and reevaluation eligibility, manifestation, and reconvene meetings.

  • Act as a resource to school based staff regarding special education issues, curriculum, services, and programming.

  • Ensure all Special Education procedures are completed within regulatory timelines.

  • Manage compliance monitoring systems for assigned school(s) including annual reviews.

  • Support staff in the development of compliant IEPs that meet the needs of students.

  • Consult and collaborate with service providers, parents, and collaterals to ensure understanding of the Team Process.

  • Prepare and/or coordinate all relevant documents for all team members such as evaluations, correspondence, and prior specialists’ reports.

  • Support the transition of students from preschool and elementary.

  • Facilitate parent observations of special education programs.

  • Collaborate with administrators and special education staff to address building-based special education issues as they arise.

  • Consult with School Administration on MCAS and MCAS-ALT.

  • Provide staff development and workshops/trainings regarding special education issues.

  • Facilitate weekly networking meetings including evaluation team. 

  • Participate and contribute to bi- weekly consult meetings with School Administration and Special Ed Administrator.

  • Any/ all other duties assigned by Principal and/or Special Education Administrator


Experience: 



  • Extensive knowledge of special education regulations/ LRE/ FAPE

  • Strong collaboration/consultation skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - both oral and written

  • Spanish speaking preferred

  • Knowledge of services, supports, and programming for high needs students. 


 


Work Year: Per AEA contract 189 days 


 


FY26  Salary range:  $64,004 - $108,744


FY 27 to be determined
