We're Hiring: Homeless Services Diversion Worker| $19.91/hour + Amazing Benefits!

Location: Varies in the Salt Lake Area | Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week, including one weekend day | Type: Full-Time | FLSA: Non-Exempt

Are you passionate about making a real difference in people's lives? As a Diversion Worker with Utah Community Action (UCA), you'll assist individuals and families at risk of homelessness to find safe, stable housing, often before they ever need to enter shelter. You'll be the first friendly face offering hope, guidance, and connections to community resources, financial aid, and long-term housing solutions.


What You'll Do & What You Bring

  • Has empathy and compassion for people from all walks of life
  • Organized, dependable, and ready to assist where needed
  • Communicates clearly and calmly, even in challenging situations
  • Works well independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Comfortable with technology (Word, Excel, email, databases)
  • Knows (or is eager to learn about) community resources and referral processes

What to Expect

  • Environment: Office and shelter-based settings, with occasional outdoor events in all seasons
  • Physical Needs: Mostly sitting, with some standing, bending, and lifting upto 25 lbs.
  • Requirements: Background check, drug/alcohol screening, sex offender and child abuse registry checks, etc.
