Job Description

Gross Mendelsohn, one of the Mid-Atlantic’s leading independent CPA and advisory firms, is seeking a motivated Tax Senior to join our growing Tax Department.

This role is ideal for a tax professional with strong technical skills and a desire to grow within public accounting. The Tax Senior will work closely with managers and partners to prepare and review tax returns, assist with client engagements, and support the development of junior staff.



The position provides exposure to a diverse client base, including closely held businesses, nonprofit organizations, and high-net-worth individuals. Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Technical Work


• Prepare federal and state tax returns including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120-S, 1120, 990, and fiduciary returns

• Assist with the review process and ensure tax returns are accurate and complete

• Conduct tax research and assist in resolving tax-related issues

• Identify potential tax planning opportunities for clients

• Maintain organized and well-documented workpapers in accordance with firm standards

Client Service & Communication

• Communicate with clients to gather tax information and respond to inquiries

• Assist managers and partners with client meetings and tax planning discussions

• Provide timely updates on engagement status and deliverables

• Maintain a professional and responsive client service approach

Engagement Support

• Assist with engagement planning, scheduling, and workflow coordination

• Manage multiple tax engagements and deadlines during busy periods

• Work collaboratively with managers and team members to ensure timely completion of projects

• Support the efficient preparation and filing of tax returns through the firm’s tax systems

Staff Development & Collaboration

• Provide guidance and support to junior staff and interns

• Review basic work prepared by staff and assist with training when appropriate

• Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment

Professional Development & Firm Engagement

• Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations

• Participate in professional development and continuing education opportunities

• Support firm initiatives and contribute to a positive workplace culture
