    Job Title:     Art Teacher
    Supervisor: Building Principal
    Location:  Rosa Parks Middle School
    Salary:         Salary is based on Teacher Salary Schedule. Ten-month (10) work year
    Supervises: Students

    Job Summary:
    Under general direction of the Principal, the teacher creates a flexible academic program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability.  Instructs children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth for elementary school students.  

    Qualifications:
    Two years work experience as an art teacher

    Education
     Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college, including all courses to meet credential requirements.  

    Licenses/Credentials:
    Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement(s). 
               
    Essential Functions:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

    • Teach knowledge and skills in art
    • Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and about art
    • Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting
    • Understand a variety of "masters" techniques
    • Knows and can apply elements of design and modern principles of art
    • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
    • Other duties as assigned

    Evaluation:  
    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel.
