Job Description

2026-2027 Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Walden Middle School


 


F.L.S.A:                                  Exempt Professional


 


QUALIFICATIONS:                Must possess a valid Missouri teacher certificate or current Missouri substitute teacher


                                             certificate.   


 


REPORTS TO:                        Assistant Principal for Activities


 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:     Appointed annually for the term of the season. Salary according to the teacher agreement.


 


ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS:




    1. Comprehensive knowledge of the rules and fundamentals of the sport assigned to coach.

    2. Maintain current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.

    3. Complete all trainings to comply with MSHSAA requirements.

    4. Provide emergency first aid.

    5. Maintain a conducive and safe environment.

    6. Maintain, issue, and provide an accurate inventory of school equipment.

    7. To model the skills of the sport. (Bending, running, jumping, twisting and lifting.)

    8. Develop positive relations with students and parents. This includes proper dress, language, demeanor and student/teacher relations.

    9. To place a team on the field of competition and substitute players appropriately as part of a well-organized game plan.

    10. To screen student athletes for membership on a team. Where cuts are required because of size limitations, proper judgment must be present to assess skills, aptitude, interest, citizenship, future ability and temperament.

    11. Provide eligibility lists, rosters, and other paperwork as required by administration.

    12. To be active in building participation, conditioning, and training through camps and individual contacts.
