Dementia Trainer & Coach
Full-time, 40 hours per week

The Dementia Institute improves dementia well-being by providing training and care navigation for care partners, and certification for professionals.
Job Summary and Responsibilities:
The Dementia Trainer & Coach primarily teaches dementia classes, facilitates dementia simulations and support groups, and coaches professional care partners after they have been trained.
What will you do:
· Education Delivery: Study and continuously improve the methods by which curriculum is delivered to adult learners, including formal & informal care partners, addressing different learning styles, etc.
· Assess Education Needs: Assess and address gaps in the competencies and behaviors of family and professional care partners. In partnership with an organization’s leadership, coach professional staff for improvement.
· Dementia Resource: Serve as an organization and community resource for best practice standards in dementia care.

· Learning Strategies: Select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation.
· Active Learning: Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
· Social Perceptiveness: Be aware of own and others' nonverbals to optimize communication.
Job Qualifications:
· College degree in health, education, or social work preferred.
· Three years of healthcare experience required, preferably in senior living and training
· Relevant Michigan licensure and certification preferred.
· Proficiency with electronic medical records, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Required Certifications:
· Successful completion of at least one dementia certification within six months of hire.
