Job Description

Accountability:

This position will be responsible for intake functions for programs for The Workforce Connection’s Boone, Stephenson, and Winnebago counties, and entering participant data into a state database.  The Intake Specialist will present information on the services of The Workforce Connection and administer various tests and assessments.  The Specialist will assist with assigned services, records, reports and program development and work collaboratively with program and community partners.

 

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

 

Outreach and Assessment

  • Provide intake functions and enter incoming participant data into The Workforce Connection database (IWDS) in a timely manner.
  • Host orientation sessions at the Workforce Connection as well as other community events and administer various tests and assessments.
  • Conduct intake file review/check list to include evaluation of application documents and data to verify initial eligibility under program policy. Review initial application for completeness. Document all verification evidence.
  • Assign new and eligible clients to Career Planners based on reporting criteria.
  • Assist staff with recruitment efforts.
  • Provide necessary guidance on the eligibility documentation requirements.
  • Provide assistance in the Career Center assisting with front desk and Career Center resources offered such as resume development assistance, job searching on-line assistance, career closet and referrals. 

 

Community Partnerships

  • Develop and maintain relationships with partner and community agencies to promote Workforce services and programs when receiving referral customers.
  • Strategically outreach to local organizations to promote Workforce services and programs.

 

Administrative

  • Participation in meetings, committees, and ongoing training related to working effectively with program participants.
  • Ensure confidentiality of records.

 

Communication

  • Display a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of program goals, guidelines, and eligibility criteria, as well as knowledge of other State and Federal agencies and programs.
  • Show flexibility in working with people from diverse social, economic, and educational backgrounds.
