Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides direct assistance to immediate supervisor/manageron a variety of human resources related issues.

Assists in ensuring compliance to Astemo’s values (quality, customer service, etc.), HR policies and procedures (EEO, performance appraisal, salary administration, etc.) by communicating the same to employees, as appropriate.

Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.

Counsels management on resolution of minor employee relations issues to help promote a productive, cooperative, and teamwork environment. Recommends actions to assist in the resolution of plant/employee problems/concerns.

Responds timely and accurately to requests from the Department of Labor (DOL) for information relating to claims for unemployment filed by terminated employees.  Coordinates all activities regarding scheduled unemployment hearings with all parties required.

Facilitates the New Hire Orientation (NHO) process including reservation and set-up of facilities and technical equipment as well as scheduling presenters. 

Collects and reviews all new hire paperwork for completeness and accuracy.

Ensures employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions. Communicates plan provisions to employees (and potential employees/applicants) so individuals can make informed benefit decisions.

Administers health and welfare plans including enrollments and terminations.

Assists in matters related to recruiting: processes job requisitions, screens applicants, interviews candidates, conducts and reviews background checks, attends job fairs, etc. as needed

Supports annual open enrollment each year. Arranges for distribution of materials from carriers, assists with communicating changes to employees, arranges for on-site representation by providers, and conducts employee presentations. Processes changes within deadlines.

Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

Works closely with staffing agencies and communicates staffing needs. 

Reconciles headcount with each department on a regular basis.

Responsible for tracking HR metrics and HR adhoc reports.  Analyze trends and provides recommendation for improvement. 

Responsible for visa processing for candidates.  Work closely with Astemo legal consultant and provide documents needed.

Lead and participate in employee engagement activities.

Special assignments assigned as needed

Strong analytical skills - non negotiable. 

Proficient in Excel (vlookups, pivots, etc) and Powerpoint

 Process oriented, detail oriented, organized

Extensive experience in employee investigation 

Experience in coordinating VISA's preferred

QUALIFICATIONS:

A High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of Human Resources experience is required. A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management and three (3) to five (5) years of Human Resources experience preferred.  SHRM/HRCI Certification a plus.

Comprehensive knowledge and practical application of HR laws and regulations

Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues.

Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, or government law.

Ability to keep highly sensitive matters confidential.

Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Must have computer skills and the ability to learn HRIS system. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Some MS Access experience preferred.

Superior verbal/written/analytics skills and presentation skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Required to sit for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet. The performance of this position may occasional require exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment and steel toe shoes.
