Department: Banquets Supervisor: Banquet Manager with direction from Banquet Captains FLSA Category: Non-Exempt Terms of Employment: At Will Position Status: Part-time (hours per week vary based on the need) Work Hours: most shifts will be on the weekends Fridays-Sundays, hours vary. Pay Rate: Minimum wage plus service fees
Position Objective: The Banquets and Concessions Bartender is responsible for preparing alcoholic beverages during Center events and concessions. Duties and Responsibilities:Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Customer Service - Selling a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages during banquet functions.
- Enter all orders in (POS) Point of Sale System and run guest payments.
- Pouring sodas, beer, wine, bottled water, and other beverages.
- Providing excellent customer service while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Counting cash accurately and making correct change quickly.
- Understanding and ensuring all State and Federal alcohol serving policies are followed.
- Adhering to all laws, rules, regulations pursuant to California Alcohol and Beverage Control.
Bar Back - Stocking items as needed.
- Setting up, cleaning, and breaking down workstations.
- Assuring the proper handling and cleaning of all equipment.
- Ensuring all sanitation procedures are followed pursuant to state and local regulations as well as OSHA requirements.
Banquet Attendant - Providing back-up Banquet Attendant duties when necessary.
Administration - Maintaining and balancing individual cash banks.
- Following all designated opening and closing procedures to ensure areas are secure, energy efficient, and sanitary.
Health / Safety - Following all sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements.
- Attending all safety meetings as required by management.
Other duties as may be deemed necessary by the direct supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Must be of legal age to prepare and sell alcoholic beverages.
- Must have knowledge of (POS) Point of Sale System in order to enter orders and run payments.
- Able to stand and walk for 6 hours or more based on the shift.
- Able to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work overtime, late hours, holidays, etc. if needed.
- Must wear appropriate uniform at all times.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Able to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Excellent oral communication skills is required.
- Positive interpersonal skills is required.
Professional Work Experience: - At least one-year of bartending experience is required.
License/Certifications: - Must have an active Food Handlers Card.
- ABC “LEAD” certified is preferred, or must be willing to obtain right away.
Physical demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand and walk for 6 hours or more depending on the shift.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend over, lift, and reach; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
Working Environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The workspace is in a banquet/restaurant setting. Noise levels vary, but can be moderate to high during programming and events. While performing this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time with respect to both indoor and outdoor events. Temperature levels may include hot, cold, and mild. The noise level in the work environment may be moderate and high depending on the event.
