    Job Summary:  

    In this role, you will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a life skills program setting. You will create a safe and nurturing learning environment where students can develop essential skills for independent living, social interaction, and career readiness.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with PPT team.
    • Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction in both a self-contained and inclusion-based classroom setting. Design and implement lessons focused on 16 core transition standards.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate inclusive learning opportunities for students with disabilities.
    • Use data to assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
    • Conduct reevaluations to determine continued eligibility and inform the IEP.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress.
    • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
    • Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and individual strengths.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field.
    • CT special education teaching license (165).
    • Experience working with middle school students with disabilities (Preferred).
    • Strong understanding of modification and accommodations and best practices in supporting students with severe to profound disabilities.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
    • Culturally responsive teaching practices.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
