Job Description

Description

  • Assist with construction layout using string lines and basic layout tools
  • Read and interpret tape measurements accurately
  • Support setup and maintenance of layout instruments (transit, eye level, laser, pocket laser, backsight)
  • Assist in reading and understanding project blueprints and shop drawings
  • Work with senior team members to ensure accurate field layout
  • Maintain and organize personal and company tools
  • Follow safety guidelines and jobsite procedures

Requirements

  • Basic ability to read a tape measure
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn layout instruments (transit, laser levels, etc.)
  • Understanding of basic construction math (or currently enrolled in a math course)
  • Exposure to blueprint reading (layout or structural preferred)
  • Currently enrolled in or completed courses such as:
    • Layout Blueprint Class
    • Structural Layout Blueprint Class
    • Basic Math
    • Bluebeam (or similar construction software)
  • Ability to read or beginning to understand shop drawings (company and subcontractor)
  • Must have all basic hand tools required for the job
  • Ability to work outdoors and in a physically demanding environment
