About the Job:

The Staff Solutions Architect serves as the architectural owner of Taco Bell’s digital ecosystem, including the Taco Bell iOS and Android apps, website, middleware services, integrations with Yum’s Byte Platform, and all third-party systems that power the digital experience. This role will shape the technical direction of our digital platforms, ensuring they are performant, scalable, and built for long-term innovation.

As a senior technical leader, this role will partner closely with Engineering, Product, Design, Operations, and external platform teams to translate business needs into scalable architectural solutions. This role will evaluate new feature requests across the organization, determining what can be supported today, what requires targeted enhancements, and what depends on cross-team collaboration or roadmap alignment with other Yum platform teams.

The Day-to-Day: 

  • Own the end-to-end architecture for Taco Bell’s Ecommerce ecosystem, ensuring scalability, reliability, and long-term platform health.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Operations, and external platform teams to align technical solutions with business needs.

  • Assess new feature requests to determine technical feasibility, required enhancements, and dependencies on internal or external teams.

  • Provide architectural guidance and direction throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring efficient, high-quality delivery.

  • Lead or support migrations to new or upgraded platform components, ensuring minimal disruption and strong long-term foundations.

  • Serve as the primary subject-matter expert for system behavior, data flows, and integration points across the Ecommerce ecosystem.

  • Identify and mitigate architectural risks, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges.

  • Maintain strong relationships with Yum platform teams and third-party vendors to ensure roadmap alignment and timely support.

  • Establish and promote architectural best practices, patterns, and standards across teams.

  • Communicate architectural decisions, tradeoffs, and impacts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Is This You?

  • 10+ years of experience in software architecture, systems design, or related engineering roles, with at least several years in a senior or principal-level capacity.
  • Proven expertise designing and scaling distributed systems, microservices, and high-availability architectures.
  • Strong experience with mobile and web application ecosystems, including APIs, middleware, and third-party integrations.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical feasibility, assess architectural tradeoffs, and guide teams toward effective solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS Serverless, including Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, S3, etc. 
  • Deep understanding of system performance, resiliency, observability, and security principles.
  • Track record of successfully leading cross-functional technical initiatives involving multiple teams or external partners.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with large-scale platform migrations or major architectural modernization efforts.
  • Strong collaboration, leadership, and influencing skills, with the ability to drive alignment across diverse teams.

Salary Range: ­­$164,300 to $205,400 annually + bonus eligibility + benefits
