The following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities:
Serve as a member of the Leadership Team
Plan, supervise, and coordinate the K-5 ESL program
Set goals and benchmarks for student learning outcomes, coordinate ESL-related assessments and ensure accountability
Develop and procure ESL curriculum and support ESL teachers through curriculum implementation, providing pedagogical instruction, professional development, and individual coaching
Facilitate ESL department meetings and develop and overseeESL staff professional development
Collaborate with other members of the Academic Leadership Team to plan and facilitate professional development for educators, parents, or students (i.e.,language acquisition, WIDA initiatives, SEI instruction, annual priorities)
Coach and develop teachers to identify appropriate instructional practices and supports for ELs through modeling, consultations, observations and feedback
Supervise and evaluate ESL teachers
Support teachers with the planning and execution of lessons that will lead all learners to mastery and ensure students have the language accommodations and modifications necessary to fully access the lesson
Responsible for initial identification, intake, and assessment of English Learners; manage teacher referrals and collaboratively determine services and extra supports for students
Collaboratively design and also coordinate services for EL students that comply with DESE requirements; determine appropriate EL services based on English proficiency level of students and make instructional recommendations
Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws regarding English Learner policies and practices including English Learner Education (ELE) Program evaluations, OLA Tier Review, and SIMS
Contribute to the English-learner related sections of schoolwide reports such as the annual report
Submit by deadline and own data quality of EL data required for DESE reporting
Coordinate ACCESS testing
Monitor and utilize data throughout the academic year to inform instruction, group students, and target skills and strategies for instruction
Maintain records/files of language development data, service models and hours, and communication with families of English Learners that is easily accessible and in compliance with DESE and charter requirements
Serve as point person for ESL resource matters (e.g. resource inventory, material needs)
Coordinate the Reclassification and FEL monitoring processes
Facilitate parent meetings on services and strategies to support their children’s learning
Frequently check email and respond to inquiries as needed within 48 hours
Read the Weekly Memo in advance of the start of the school week
Uphold our school’s values, school-wide key systems and student accountability systems for academics and character
Consistently meet our school expectations for professionalism and fulfill required responsibilities in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in a related field of study;
Must hold DESE Licensure in ESL, ELL, or TBE, and SEI Endorsement
Must hold or be eligible to apply for DESE Licensure as Supervisor/Director (Non-Core) within two years of employment
3 or more years of ESL teaching and supervisory experience
Salary Range;
$70k - $95K
*salary commensurate with experience, education and educator license
