Job Description
 Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority- and women-owned law firm in the United States, is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Defense Legal Assistant with 5+ years of experience to support a high-volume practice. This is a full-time, in-office position offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

About the Role

The Legal Assistant will support attorneys handling workers’ compensation defense matters. This is a hands-on role requiring strong knowledge of the WC defense process, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage a heavy, fast-paced desk with competing deadlines.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process, edit, format, file, and serve legal documents from dictation
  • Prepare WCAB-compliant pleadings utilizing EAMS
  • Execute Panel QME requests and manage the selection process
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties
  • Manage attorney calendars, including deadlines, hearings, and follow-ups
  • Organize and maintain case files (physical and electronic), ensuring accuracy and accessibility
  • Monitor case progress and escalate issues requiring attorney involvement
  • Handle detailed timekeeping and assist with billing entry
  • Obtain subpoenaed records and assist with document production requests
  • Provide general administrative and litigation support as needed

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of legal assistant experience supporting workers’ compensation defense matters
  • Strong knowledge of the workers’ compensation defense process
  • Experience with EAMS e-filing and WCAB procedures required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Typing speed of 70+ WPM
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
