Job Title: Director, Events

Reporting Line: EVP, People

The Director of Events is a hands-on leader responsible for executing high-impact events that align with business unit and brand strategies. This role partners closely with stakeholders across the organization to translate strategic priorities into well-executed events, ensuring consistency, quality, and operational excellence.

This role also leads and develops the events team, including direct management of an Event Manager, while establishing standardized processes and ways of working that enable strong cross-functional alignment and scalable execution.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Partnership & Alignment

  • Partner with business unit leaders, marketing, and commercial teams to understand event objectives and priorities
  • Translate stakeholder strategy into clear event plans, timelines, and deliverables
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders throughout planning and execution
  • Drive alignment across functions to ensure clarity on roles, responsibilities, and expectations

End-to-End Event Execution

  • Lead the full lifecycle of events from planning through on-site execution and post-event wrap-up
  • Oversee execution across multiple events, ensuring consistency and quality
  • Step in directly where needed to problem-solve and ensure successful delivery
  • Maintain strong visibility into all active events and proactively address risks

Operations, SOPs & Process Standardization

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for event planning and execution
  • Establish a consistent event intake, prioritization, and approval process across the organization
  • Define and enforce clear roles and responsibilities across cross-functional teams
  • Build scalable tools, templates, and playbooks (timelines, checklists, run-of-show, post-event recaps)
  • Ensure adoption and adherence to processes across all stakeholders

Operations & Logistics

  • Oversee all event logistics, including:
    • Vendor coordination and management
    • Shipping, inventory, and materials management
    • Travel planning and on-site staffing
  • Ensure operational readiness across all events and resolve issues proactively

Team Leadership & Development

  • Directly manage and develop the Event Manager, providing clear priorities, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Set expectations for execution quality, responsiveness, and accountability across the team
  • Allocate resources effectively across events based on priority and complexity
  • Serve as a player-coach, stepping in to support execution during peak periods

Identify Revenue Alignment & Event Outcomes

  • Partner with stakeholders to clearly define measurable objectives for each event (e.g., revenue generation, sales targets, lead generation, brand engagement, partnerships)
  • Ensure each event has defined success metrics and expected outcomes prior to execution
  • Align event execution to support revenue-driving activities, including on-site sales, customer acquisition, and partner activation
  • Track and report on event performance against defined goals, including revenue impact where applicable
  • Drive accountability for delivering outcomes by ensuring events are executed with clear purpose and business impact

Post-Event Review & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead post-event debriefs with stakeholders and team members
  • Capture key learnings and integrate them into SOPs and future planning
  • Drive continuous improvement in execution, communication, and processes

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of hands-on event management experience
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring team members (direct management preferred)
  • Proven ability to execute complex, large-scale events (trade shows, conventions, activations)
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to balance strategic alignment with hands-on execution

Success Metrics

  • Events executed on time, on budget, and at a high level of quality
  • Strong stakeholder satisfaction and cross-functional alignment
  • Effective leadership and development of the Event Manager
  • Adoption and consistency of event SOPs across the organization
  • Reduction in execution issues and improved operational efficiency

Leadership Expectations

  • Lead from the front: Be hands-on and engaged in execution
  • Create structure: Build and enforce processes that enable scalable success
  • Develop talent: Coach and elevate team members
  • Drive alignment: Ensure all stakeholders are working from the same playbook
  • Own outcomes: Take accountability for both execution and team performance

What This Role Is NOT

  • Does not independently set company event strategy
  • Is not a purely administrative or coordination role
  • Is not solely focused on logistics—this role drives execution excellence, team leadership, and operational structure
