What you will be doing
Job Description
- To lead, develop and engage assigned Engineering personnel to meet current and future business requirements.
- To deploy assigned staff to approved business activities/technical programmes
- To own and support definition of the appropriate section of the Engineering strategy.
- To ensure compliance to process throughout the life cycle activity
- To ensure that world class capability is effectively utilised to provide products and services that satisfy business requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the Failure Investigation Teams in Bristol and Derby including wellbeing, resourcing, absence and performance.
- Accountable for cost, quality, delivery and capability of the team.
- Bandwidth in technical knowledge regarding aerospace materials, material related processes and manufacturing.
- Manage the embedded supplier relationship and offload strategy.
- Identify and implement cost and efficiency improvements within the team and global capability.
- Ensure full compliance with legal and contractual obligations relating to chemical/substance declaration, supported by robust processes, governance, and verified data.
- Lead the Chemicals Management function, providing technical leadership, governance, and assurance across engineering lifecycle activities.
- Own workforce strategy and delivery, including resource planning, recruitment, subcontracting, and capability development aligned to business needs and budgets.
- Drive team performance and capability, including objective setting, performance management, professional development, and long-term skills sustainability.
- Embed engineering excellence through adherence to corporate processes, regulatory standards, lifecycle reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Act as a key interface across the business and supply chain, ensuring effective communication, stakeholder alignment, knowledge sharing, and operational integration.
Who we’re looking for:
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent
- Demonstrates sound engineering judgement and knowledge of the Sector Customers and Programmes
- Demonstrates effective leadership & engineering skills
- Capable of building high performing teams and effecting a positive shift in attitudes and behaviours
- Understanding of Company Quality policies and processes deployed within the resource group
- Experienced in applying process improvement techniques and driving business improvements
