Operations Assistant

Position Summary:
The Operations Assistant will primarily function as support for the Electric Utility Department�s functions and initiatives. This position will be responsible for assisting with planning, coordination, and execution of special projects across HEU.
Responsibilities:
- Operations Reports
- Support the development, analysis, and distribution of monthly operations reports, ensuring accuracy
- Track and maintain key operational metrics, including:
- Bid Tracking
- Projected Costs
- Project Manager/Foreman Profitability
- Equipment Tracking
- Project Manager Portfolio Volume
- Special Projects
- Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of special projects across HEU departments
- Collaborate with stakeholders to track progress, manage timeliness, and ensure successful project delivery
- Provide administrative and operational support to ensure initiatives stay aligned with organizational goals
- Staffing & Onboarding
- Guide candidates through structured pre-screening steps, using consistent criteria to assess readiness, alignment, and potential fit for the role
- Facilitate reference checks to validate prior experience and ensure a smooth transition into the organization
- Coordinate interview experiences by scheduling with candidates and internal stakeholders, managing logistics, and ensuring a welcoming, well-organized process
- Lead onboarding support activities, including PPE coordination and post-orientation integration, connecting new hires with key team members, departments, and essential resources to set them up for success
- Apprenticeship Assistant
- Oversee apprenticeship program records and communications, ensuring accurate documentation of student progress, certifications, and compliance requirements
- Serve as a primary point of contact for apprentices, instructors, and internal teams
- Oversee scheduling logistics for apprenticeship training, including coordinating classroom space and instructor assignments
- Support the development and implementation of remote learning platforms, coordinating content, technology, and user access to ensure effective training for out-of-town apprentices
- Monitor program activities to ensure alignment with timelines, standards, and regulatory expectations
Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to uphold core principles of the HAYNES Way, including integrity and professionalism.
- Consistently deliver a positive, service-driven experience when interacting with internal and external stakeholders, building strong and effective relationships.
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze situations, identify issues, and develop effective solutions.
- Ability and willingness to develop and apply a working knowledge of general construction functions, processes, and field operations.
- Highly effective communication with strong written and verbal skills, capable of delivering clear, concise, and professional communication across diverse audiences.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organization and quality.
- Experience using AI tools or remote education platforms to support training, communication, or operations is a plus.
