Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, multiskilled Laboratory Technician to join our team in Glendale Heights, IL. The successful candidate will work across multiple laboratory environments, performing tests and creating reports using industrial microwave systems. This position involves using electronic test equipment, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supporting customer application tests. The role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and effective communication with engineering and business development teams.            


Essential Responsibilities 


Within Materials Test Laboratory:

  • Perform tests on various sample materials and document results in a detailed, accurate manner.
  • Prepare test reports with summaries, collaborating with engineering teams when necessary.
  • Submit test reports for approval by engineering leads and business development teams.
  • Ensure reports are prepared and submitted in a timely manner to clients or customers.
  • Oversee test record database, ensuring accurate documentation and data integrity.


Within Application Testing Laboratory:

  • Perform benchtop and/or pilot scale customer application tests using microwave heating systems for drying, heating and advanced material processing.
  • Conduct tests following standard procedures.
  • Maintain test equipment and lab space to ensure a functional and presentable environment for customers.
  • Record test results systematically, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Draw conclusions from test results and identify any trends or anomalies.
  • Generate and deliver comprehensive test reports based on the findings.

Requirements


  •  Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 
  • Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment and instrumentation.
  • Understanding of basic sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Math) is helpful.
  • Use of basic hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical testing and troubleshooting techniques. Proficiency with digital tools and database management systems for tracking test data.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams (engineering, business development, and customers).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Basic computer programming skills (e.g: ladder logic, C, C++, and/or Python) helpful but not required

Work Environment

  • The role involves both laboratory and office-based tasks.
  • Adherence to safety protocols is mandatory in all laboratory and testing environments.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
