What You’ll Do;
As the Transportation Specialist, you will support the execution and coordination of all Supply Chain Transportation activities across Sporting Life Group banners.
Within this role, you will focus on ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery of goods by working closely with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders, while contributing to process improvements and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound freight, final mile delivery to customers, and customs documentation and processes.
- Support communication and coordination with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth transportation operations.
- Maintain relationships with ground and ocean carriers to help ensure consistent service levels.
- Assist in managing 3rd party providers, including transportation, freight payment, customs brokers, and distribution partners.
- Collaborate with Merchant Team, Vendors, Order Management, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams to support transportation execution.
- Support peak planning activities and capacity tracking based on business needs.
- Assist with RFP processes by gathering data, preparing documentation, and coordinating vendor communication.
- Work with Finance to provide accurate data for freight payment and reporting.
- Monitor adherence to service level agreements and escalate issues as needed.
- Investigate and help resolve transportation-related issues from internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the implementation and documentation of transportation processes for domestic and international shipments.
- Track transportation metrics and assist in analyzing data to identify performance trends.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service levels and reduce costs.
What You’ll Bring;
- BS/BA in Business Administration or related field; plus 2–4 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain
- CITT designation considered an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience working with customs brokers and international transportation/logistics processes
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Basic negotiation and coordination skills
