About the Department
The Restorative Services Coordinator is part of a team responsible for coordinating and delivering restorative justice services across a range of referrals, from pre-charge diversion through post-conviction reparative processes. This includes civil referrals such as downtown ordinance violations and youth cannabis/alcohol possession cases.
Working with both responsible and impacted parties, this role centers accountability, meaningful support, equity, and community impact. The Coordinator prepares participants for dialogue processes, facilitates restorative conferences, develops and monitors agreements, and ensures all participants are treated with dignity and respect.
This position requires strong relationship-building skills, a trauma-informed approach, and the ability to hold both accountability and compassion. The Coordinator collaborates with community partners, justice system stakeholders, and internal staff to promote equitable access to restorative processes and strengthen community-based responses to harm.
This position primarily focusses on youth (ages 10 to 22) but will require working with adults as well. Beginning on July 1, 2026 this position requires flexibility to work at satellite office locations throughout the county.

Pay Grade 16: $30.48 to $33.97 Hourly
Remote Tier 2: Up to one (1) day remote/week
Position Duties
Restorative Process Coordination
- Conduct intakes, assess participant needs, and coordinate restorative processes, primarily with youth cases and with adult cases as assigned
- Conduct Youth Assessment Screenings to determine risk levels and protective factors.
- Schedule, organize, and support restorative justice processes, including conferences and related meetings
- Collaborate with Cultural Advocates, volunteers, and internal team members to implement processes effectively
- Prepare participants for restorative dialogue and support meaningful engagement
- Develop, monitor, and support completion of restorative agreements
- Ensure processes uphold principles of accountability, equity, and respect
- Advocate for access to services and reduce barriers to participation
- Connect participants to resources that enhance safety and repair harm
- Foster conditions that support accountability-taken by responsible parties
- Provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive support to all participants
- Build and maintain relationships with criminal legal system partners, including law enforcement, the State’s Attorney’s Office, defense attorneys, Department of Corrections, and Department for Children and Families
- Build and maintain relationships with the VT Attorney General’s Office.
- Collaborate with community-based organizations to strengthen referral pathways and participant support
- Coordinate with Victim Services Specialists to integrate restorative processes when appropriate
- Support people impacted by crime in navigating the criminal legal system
- Conduct trauma-informed, culturally responsive outreach to victims of crime
- Create meaningful opportunities for harmed parties to participate in restorative processes
- Participate in Victim Services team meetings and ongoing program development
- Accurately document and track participant data using SharePoint and Law Manager systems
- Distribute and track participant evaluation surveys
- Maintain organized case records and ensure compliance with program policies
- Educate community partners and service providers about restorative justice principles and programs
- Serve as an ambassador for the Community Justice Center and the City of Burlington
- Contribute to an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive workplace
- Participate in at least one internal committee and engage in ongoing self-reflection and professional development
- Attends monthly CJC staff meetings
- Participates in at least one CJC committee and its respective meetings
- Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to actively support City and CJC diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of relevant experience, or six (6) years of program coordination experience in restorative justice, victim advocacy, community development, and/or a related field, Ideal candidate has experience working in school settings and/or with middle and high school aged youth and their families.
- Knowledge of stages of development, restorative practices and program management.
- Strong communication skills, including written, phone, public speaking, meeting and training facilitation.
- Ability to work well with a team as well as the ability to work autonomously.
- Training, education, course work in the areas of substance use, youth development, mental health, trauma, poverty, crime and other challenges.
- Knowledge of community resources and the ability to make appropriate referrals.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with a wide range of individuals and groups, who may have conflicting interests and opinions.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with youth who have experienced trauma, and come from diverse racial, economic, and other backgrounds.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, record-keeping and computer skills.
- Some evening and weekend availability required.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Regular attendance is necessary and is essential to meeting the expectations of the job functions.
