    Contract: This posting is for a continuing, 181-DAY contract for a Food Service I assignment at GF Middle School. This position requires on-site work, remote work is not available. This position begins when filled. Benefits and retirement eligibility will be determined upon hire. This position is open until filled.
    Work Location: GF Middle School
    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday
    Daily Schedule: 8:30 AM TO 1:30 PM - 4.5 hours per day. 
    Wage/Step Zero: $19.45 per hour and with AA or higher degree or Level II Washington School Nutrition Association Training Program (WSNATP), $19.95 per hour

    Job Description: Food Service Worker 1
    Reports To: Child Nutrition Supervisor
    Summary: Perform cooking duties under direction of Food Service Worker II. To provide nutritional and attractive meals and ala carte selections to schools as specified.

    TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:
    1. Serve meals or prepare for delivery at times, using correct portioning, meeting USDA minimum standards and ensuring that food is at the correct temperatures and is attractive and tasty. Store leftovers following safe food handling procedures.
    2. Use established cash and ticket collection procedures during service. Responsible for cash and records from area worked during service periods. Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. All food and supply items are to be stored properly.
    3. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.
    4. Assist in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required.
    5. Order supplies and food needed for area of responsibility. Assist in ordering and receiving of all food and supplies.
    6. May transport food and food supplies to various school sites as required.
    7. Follow correct procedures for safety and sanitation at all times.
    8. Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the Child Nutrition Supervisor immediately.
    9. Attend in-service and/or safety meetings as required.
    10. Work effectively and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, school
    personnel, administrators, students, parents and Child Nutrition Supervisor.
    11. Maintain clean and safe work environment; ability to perform job safely.
    12. Other duties may be assigned.

    Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Certificates, Licenses, Requirements: Food Handler's Permit and satisfactory background check/fingerprinting required.
    Language Skills: Ability to read, understand and speak basic English to perform essential functions of the job. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one to customers and other employees of the organization.
    Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
