    Job Title: Behavior Interventionist
    Reports To: Principal
    Location: Greene County Elementary School
    Employment Type: Full-Time, 10-Month Position

     

    Job Summary:

     

    The Behavior Interventionist will provide support to students, teachers, and staff in fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment. This role involves implementing evidence-based behavior interventions, supporting students with social-emotional challenges, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff to promote student success.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     
    • Implement behavior intervention strategies to support students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

    • Work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, and administrators to develop and implement individualized behavior support plans and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports.

    • Conduct observations and data collection to assess student behavior and intervention effectiveness.

    • Provide direct support to students in crisis situations, using de-escalation techniques and restorative practices.

    • Assist in training staff on behavior management strategies and intervention techniques.

    • Work closely with parents and caregivers to provide guidance and support in managing student behavior at school and home.

    • Participate in team meetings, Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings, and Response to Intervention (RTI) discussions as needed.

    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student behavior and interventions.

    • Foster a positive school climate by promoting social-emotional learning and proactive behavior strategies.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

     

    Qualifications:

     
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, social work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

    • Experience: Prior experience in behavior intervention, special education, counseling, or related fields preferred.

    • Certifications: CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification or willingness to obtain; training in PBIS, SEL (Social Emotional Learning), or Restorative Practices is a plus.

     

    Skills & Competencies:

     
    • Strong understanding of behavioral principles and interventions.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.

    • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.

    • Knowledge of de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed practices.

    • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and progress monitoring.

    • Patience, empathy, and cultural competency in working with diverse student populations.

     

    Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

     
    • Work is performed in a school setting, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces.

    • Must be able to stand, walk, and occasionally restrain students if necessary, following school policies and training guidelines.

    • May involve occasional lifting of materials and participation in physical activities with students.
