Job Description

Responsible for the supervision and coordination of all payroll functions across the PIH Health enterprise. This includes management of bi-weekly payroll processing, calculating and remitting federal and state payroll taxes, filing quarterly payroll tax returns, staying abreast of all current federal and state payroll tax rules/regulations, interfacing with the Human Resource Dept. personnel and responsible for addressing employee questions throughout the year.

  • This person must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, high transaction volume work environment related to bi-weekly payroll processing deadlines.
  • The individual must have demonstrated leadership and oversight experience of running a payroll department, be highly organized and extremely detail-oriented, and have the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • A strong technical payroll background is required, since this position serves as a key internal control over the accuracy of payroll data covering thousands of employees.
  • In addition, this person is expected to be able to make recommendations to senior leadership regarding existing processes in order to improve efficiencies and strengthen internal controls.

Required:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive work experience in private industry
  • MUST have previous experience as a Payroll Manager or Director in a medium to large company
  • Strong communication skills with all levels within an organization
  • Excellent computer skills, including usage of MS Excel, Word, payroll applications (Kronos)

Preferred:

  • Healthcare experience
  • Prior experience with Oracle payroll
