Job Description

Bensenville School District 2 is seeking a nurturing and dedicated Pre-K Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team at Tioga Elementary School. In this important role, you will support our youngest learners with diverse needs by helping them build foundational academic, social, and self-help skills in a structured, caring, and inclusive environment. Description:

The Pre-K Special Education Paraprofessional will assist in an early childhood classroom under the supervision of a certified teacher. This role includes supporting students with individualized needs, including communication, behavior, and daily routines.

Additional duties may include supervision in classrooms, restrooms, playgrounds, and during arrival/dismissal, as well as support in the cafeteria and other instructional settings as determined by the administrator.
 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of developmentally appropriate instructional materials and activities
  • Support students with daily routines, including transitions, toileting, feeding, and self-care as needed
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to reinforce early learning skills (social, behavioral, communication, and pre-academic)
  • Assist with the supervision, escorting, and instruction of students as directed
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
  • Collect and maintain accurate data on student progress as directed by the teacher
  • Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to support student goals
  • Participate in staff development activities as directed by contract
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration


Hours
      35 hours a week, 7 hours a day- Elementary Schools
               8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with a 30 minute duty free lunch

Qualifications:


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to actively engage with young children, including sitting on the floor, bending, kneeling, and assisting with mobility as needed
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively with staff and students
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Work involves walking, talking, hearing, and using hands and arms to assist students
  • Vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • May be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds
