The Support Instructor assists the Lead Instructor in providing remedial-level instruction in reading, writing, and math skills, including instruction in the subjects needed for passing High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) exams: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
- Teach to skill deficits as outlined by GED and Practice Test results.
- Provide effective classroom management.
- Provide differentiated instruction using grouping strategies.
- Prepare lesson plans which incorporate critical-thinking, problem-solving, and test-taking skills.
- Integrate Workplace Readiness Skills and Digital Literacy instruction in all classes.
- Complete Goal Setting, Mid-Term Reviews, Exit Surveys, and Career Pathways activities.
- Maintain student records and complete student data collection as required by the Out-of-School Youth Program.
- Submit attendance and lesson plans as outlined on the staff calendar.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required.
- Maintain a working email account and check messages regularly.
- Maintain an inventory of instructional aids, equipment, books, and other items loaned to the instructor.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND BACKGROUND:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- New Jersey teaching license preferred.
- Minimum one year of teaching/instructional experience, preferably in a young adult learning environment.
- Instructors are expected to develop instructional and professional skills through ongoing professional development opportunities provided by the program
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay range for this position is $20-$24.
