Job Summary:

This position works in our Metal Shop and will perform responsibilities on the Press Brake, Turret as well as general labor duties.  Set up and operate turret press to load program, set up tooling, load blanks, unload product, program, set-up and operate Press Brake and perform a variety of general secondary operations. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Program press brake and assign proper tooling for specific jobs.

·         Operate press brake to form various parts and assemblies to print.

·         Loads tooling into turret. Inspect and adjust punch length and die height.

·         Starts press and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.

·         Fabricate and modify sheet metal components to meet design specifications.

·         Work with engineering to improve the manufacture of new and modified parts.

·         Inspects work pieces for conformance to specifications, visually or by use of gauges or templates, and adjust machine to correct errors.

·         Perform general secondary operations, including; parts deburring, grinding and shearing, cutting material, and operating a band saw. 

·         Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

·         Report immediately to supervisor/lead/manager any and all problems, which may affect safety, equipment, tooling, and/or quality.

·         Ensure a clean and organized work environment.

·         Wear protective attire, such as safety eyeglasses, steel-toed shoes and gloves.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

·         High school diploma or equivalent.

·         3 years’ experience with set up, operating and programming turret press and press brake.

·         Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.

·         Requires general knowledge of sheet metal fabricating and assembly practices.

·         Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills and effective organizational skills.

·         Strong ability to understand blueprints, schematics, and instrumentation diagrams.

·         Understanding of all tools, gages, equipment, and other various instruments used to perform position.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Related technical Associates degree.

·         Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

·         May be required to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 60 pounds, 0 - 33% of time.

·         May be exposed to high noise levels for short amounts of time when working near manufacturing equipment. Noise levels range between 70-100 decibels. Protective footwear, ear plugs, and safety rated glasses are required.
