Summary
A chemistry and/or physics student tutor must be an undergraduate or graduate science major who demonstrates thorough knowledge of the subject to be tutored and has dedication and initiative to work with undergraduate students enrolled in chemistry or physics courses.
This is an In-Person Position
Essential Functions
Undergraduate and graduate students who have exhibited outstanding competency and/or experience in their content areas (chemistry and/or physics) will provide out-of-classroom tutoring and complementary instruction to undergraduate students.
Attending mandatory tutor training.
Prepare tutoring flyers.
Conferencing with professors.
Coordinate appropriate times for tutoring sessions.
Identify appropriate tutoring session locations.
Complete all tutoring session sign-in documents.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Qualifications/Requirements
Must be committed to punctuality, attendance, and accountability, and must have good written and communication skills.
Must have earned an "A" or "A-"in the subject for which tutoring services are being provided.
Must demonstrate knowledge and competence in the subject.
Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.40.
Must be an undergraduate or graduate science major.
Must be able to work with students one-on-one or in small groups.
Must be able to hold independent tutoring sessions, reinforce lessons, and assist with completion of homework and practice assignments.
Must maintain regular schedule.
