Job Description

The Industrial Sales Engineer is responsible for driving new OEM business and accelerating the growth of Custom Photonics Solutions across Europe. The role includes proactive market and customer development, lead qualification, and the translation of complex customer requirements into tailored photonics solutions in close collaboration with Thorlabs’ global business units, engineering teams, and sales organizations. This position owns the development of key customer relationships, the identification of high-potential markets, and the execution of targeted sales campaigns to achieve sustainable revenue growth in Europe.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and develop new markets, customers, and OEM projects, as well as new opportunities within existing accounts, to achieve European growth targets for Custom Photonics Solutions
  • Proactively lead business development and sales initiatives across Europe, including strategic account planning and targeted campaigns
  • Technically qualify customer requirements and lead cross-functional teams to deliver customized photonics solutions
  • Act as Key Account Manager for selected strategic customers across the full sales and project lifecycle
  • Serve as the primary customer interface and represent customer interests internally within Thorlabs
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and global teams to drive execution
  • Provide market insights, support process improvements, and contribute to R&D and marketing strategy
  • Own sales forecasting, CRM pipeline management, and represent Thorlabs at trade shows and key customer visits
